Treating nappy rash

In cases of mild nappy rash which is not causing discomfort to the child, advise parents about the skincare recommendations above and prescribe a barrier preparation at each nappy change to protect and help the skin to heal. If a candidal infection is suspected then a topical imidazole cream may need to be prescribed.

Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment

Unlike some barrier creams, Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment is licensed specifically to treat nappy rash. The active ingredients in Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment are titanium dioxide, titanium peroxide and titanium salicytate. These active ingredients have protective and antiseptic properties that help relieve the itching and chafing of nappy rash, whilst protecting the delicate skin from irritants by forming a non-occlusive barrier film on the skin, allowing the skin to "breathe" whilst protecting it from further irritation.

Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment gets to work immediately to soothe and treat nappy rash and should be applied as soon as nappy rash starts to develop. Only a small, pea-sized amount is required to cover the sore area, which should be treated at each nappy change until the nappy rash symptoms disappear.
